Thorns of the Old Hill

Ravens circle the standing stones. A river runs cold as hammered steel. And somewhere in the moss lies a silver comb that seems to be calling someone farther from home. Thorns of the Old Hill lives in that shadowy place where landscape, superstition and the supernatural begin to blur. We never learn exactly what happened on the hill. A promise was made. Something was given. And whatever waits among the stones has apparently decided that promise still matters. “I gave my word. The dark took its due.” By the time our narrator reaches the circle of stones, the question is no longer whether they can escape. It’s whether they even want to.
