Dearg Due draws inspiration from the haunting Irish legend of the Dearg Due — the “Red Thirst” or “Red Bloodsucker,” a vampire-like woman associated with County Waterford. In the familiar telling of the legend, a beautiful young woman is forced into a cruel marriage, dies, and rises again from her grave. But the woman who returns is no longer the woman they buried.
