He stood at the ferry wall with salt on his coat. He told her to wait. And then he left. Harbour of Names is a song about the peculiar kind of grief that comes without an ending. Maybe the road took him west. Maybe the sea took him south. Maybe exile simply carried him far enough away that one day became a year, and a year became a lifetime. She never really knows. What remains are the ordinary things. A chair leaning where his coat once hung. An old watch discovered in a bread tin. A fire that somehow still carries the ghost of his laugh. And a light kept low beside the window for someone who may never walk through the door again. Because sometimes the hardest person to lose is the one you never quite stopped waiting for.
